LAAL
The exhibition was a homage to the late artist Zahoor Ul Akhlaq, a prominent artist and art educator of Pakistan who spearheaded the study of Neo- Miniature at the National College of Arts, Lahore. He also taught and exhibited in Canada and other countries.
The exhibition had two distinct sections, one with a small retrospective of the artist and the other a display of works on takhti, a wooden tablet, which were specially created by fellow artists and students. In the 1990s Zahoor frequently painted on the takhti and this was their way to remember his influential practice. The curatorial team was led by Zahoor’s wife Sheherezade Alam a well known studio potter, and comprised of Gulzar Haider and Niilofur Farrukh among others.
